Introducing one of our secret marketeers, Charlotte Pettley
“Charlotte Pettley is a Textiles Designer working primarily in digital and silk-screen printing, amongst many other mediums.
Her last two print-based projects were inspired by 1950′s vintage styles; focusing specifically on the pastel colours and the sense of nostalgia associated with it. She enjoys creating vintage-style products in an individual and contemporary way through the use of photography and digital manipulation; combining traditional textiles with computer technology. Charlotte has also been able to develop her creative interests and talents in her current role as a Visual Merchandiser within a flagship UK retail store. Working within Visual Merchandising has gained her invaluable creative experience and a huge amount of inspiration.
These two projects were exhibited at New Designers 2011 at The Business Design Centre in London and were nominated for the BCFA (British Contract Furnishing Association) Award. Charlotte was also nominated for Texprint 2011 which has encouraged her to strive forward as a designer-maker and start up her own business.
Charlotte recently gained an interest in sewing and stitching techniques such as appliqué and cross-stitch and is currently working on a project as an extension of her 1950’s style table-setting project that will involve these techniques.
