Aunt Elsie’s, The Secret Market and Pop-up Things

Thank you to everyone that visited Aunt Elsie’s Special Do, we know we have already said thanks but we just want to say thank you again. It was very special and magical. So much so that it has been in our head ever since, how are we going to make something so fabulous happen again – we have plans for this, our Secret Markets and Aunt Elsie’s, so watch this space or should we say our space at 42 Market Place.

It has become an industrious place since we took over the 2 lower floors in December. These are coming alive daily  and we will be hosting a couple of studio weekend openings – the two top floors are now home to 8 artists as well as playing host to art classes and voice workshops. We will be giving you little sneaky peeks into the artists work on the website.

If you can’t wait until our Aunt Elsie’s/ Secret Market/ Studio Weekender you can join one of our first floor classes/ sessions such as the outcast knitters, the soon to start again childrens art sessions or visit the pop-up event we do weekly on Wednesdays 10-6pm, Thursdays 12-8pm, or the first Saturday of each month. This is in partnership with our lovely vintage friends Alexandra Vintage and furniture recyclers R3Emporium. Pop in, we think you’ll love it and find out more about what we are doing in the space.

The Pop-Up Events

Alexandra Vintage are opening a vintage pop-up shop in Reading! Joining forces with Reading arts charity jelly, Alexandra Vintage are “popping-up” their very own vintage shop in jelly’s art space and home to The Secret Market at 42 Market Place in Reading, Berkshire (UK) 10am on Wednesday 9th January.

Alexandra Vintage and jelly both share a passion for handmade, vintage, art and heritage, and it’s with that in mind that the Alexandra Vintage pop-up shop seems a natural fit adding yet another dynamic to the already creative bubble that is jelly.

The pop-up shop also welcomes local Reading furniture restorers “R3” Emporium who will be sharing the jelly space with Alexandra Vintage, offering their collection of recycled and restored vintage furniture.
